The Answer To Your Frizzless Hair Prayers - Philadelphia Salon Review
Anyone else sick of fighting with their frizzy unruly curls? I have tried many products and too many hours fighting that which encircles my head everyday. As a women with a busy schedule, the last thing I want to deal with is my re-occuring frizzy hair. But luckily, a Keratin Treatment is a great solution for fighting off the frizz and it lasts 4-6months! I’ve partnered with Toppers Spa and Salon, in Center City Philadelphia, to chronicle my journey of the Keratin Treatment process.
For busy women with unmanageable hair the keratin treatment is a miracle worker. The best part is that it doesn’t permanently straighten the curls, it just temporarily (4-6 months) relaxes them into shiny waves and best of all, gets rid of the frizz. The process starts with a clarifying shampoo. Next, the hair is dried lightly with the blowdryer. The hair is then sectioned and layer by layer, the keratin treatment is applied in a conservative amount. The hair is sectioned again and blowdried straight. Lastly, each layer of hair is straightened with the hair iron on high heat. You’ll notice that the keratin treatment steams off of the hair at this point and may cause some sensitivity for some. It helps for the salon to have excellent ventilation and for the stylist to direct the steam away from the face as much as possible. After the treatment, the newly pin-straight hair must stay dry and free of any hair ties that could crimp it for three days, after which the hair can be washed with sulfate-free products. It’s important that for the next 4-6 months following the treatment that sulfate-free products be used to help extend the lifetime of the treatment. Women with curly hair can expect their hair to be wavy and frizz-free after that first wash.

Vilma completed the entire keratin treatment process in an hour and everything went seamlessly. The ventilation in the salon was exceptional; I didn’t feel any sensitivity to the steam.
