Neutral Wardrobe Staples To Help You Transition Into Spring
Anyone who’s gone shopping with me can attest that “neutral” is very much my color palette. I’m literally drawn to all ivory, cream, camel, and chestnut hues. In my opinion, these hues are the best for helping transition between winter and spring. I’m working with Whoosh, Femme Luxe, and Angela Valentine to bring you some amazing neutral pieces that will help you transition into the new season.
The Coat
A staple coat that can be used for harsh cold weather but also be appropriate for chilly spring weather? Sounds like a myth right? Well not quite! The Camel Maxi Wool Coat, by Whoosh is just that. It’s made with wool, so obviously it’s warm. But somehow it’s so much lighter than other wool coats. Because of the oversized design, during cold winter days I layer thick sweaters underneath and I use the waist tie that comes with the coat to keep it closed. But on cool spring days I wear it open and with fewer layers. Aside from its versatility between seasons, the coat’s length, color, and overall minimalist design make it a classic wardrobe staple that you’ll get years of use out of. It’s a win-win-win scenario, as Michael Scott would say! For sizing reference, I’m wearing the small which is my normal size.
The Bag
Let’s talk purses now. I’ve been working with Angela Valentine for about a year now and I can attest to the fine craftsman ship of five of their bags. The latest addition to my handbag arsenal is The Cruzer Barrel Bag in this beautiful cognac color. While its hue is on the darker side, its zipper detailing features a pop of yellow, making it an awesome piece to transition into spring with. This genuine leather bag goes with so many ensembles because of its neutral color and simple design. And even though it’s design is simple, it’s barrel shape and medium length handles make it a unique fashion-forward piece! You’ll be seeing more of this beauty on BTFL in the coming months.
The Basic Layers
It’s always a good idea to have some cream colored layering pieces to transition into spring with since the temperature this time of year can be fickle. Femme Luxe Finery offers a huge collection of affordable wardrobe staples but here are my favorites; their “Wren” Nude Boxy Fit Tee, their ”Anwen” Nude Long Sleeve Hoodie, and their “Selby” Nude Elasticated Shorts. These three pieces all come in a matching hue called “nude.” Aside from being extremely affordable, these three pieces are also incredibly soft! While I use these pieces to wear out of the house, I also use them to sleep in sometimes. In today’s post, I’m also sporting their “Lizzie” Off White Cuffed Joggers. These oversized sweats are “off-white” and are just slightly lighter in hue than the other pieces. You can use them to wear over your gym clothes when it’s cold out or just part of cute errand-running ensemble. All four of these pieces are perfect wardrobe staples for both winter and spring! My size for most Femme Luxe Finery products is US4 (which is the same as UK8). If you’re between sizes I do suggest you go up a size to be safe.
I hope you enjoy all of these neutral wardrobe staples as much as I do!
